Chromosome Deletion Outreach, Inc. (CDO) is a non-profit organization providing
support & information to families affected by rare chromosome disorders. CDO is
run by parent volunteers out of their homes.
Donations and payments to join or renew your CDO membership may be made by credit
card. The CDO online application form uses SSL technology. Digital certificates
encrypt data using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology, the industry-standard
method for protecting web communications developed by Netscape Communications Corporation.
The SSL security protocol provides data encryption, server authentication, message
integrity, and optional client authentication for a TCP/IP connection. Additionally
credit card information is not stored online. However, if you do not wish to send
this information over the Internet, our family helpline is always available.
Every effort is made to provide the most accurate and timely information possible
on this website. However, case reports and genetic journal articles may describe
the findings in only a few persons with a specific deletion, duplication, translocation,
inversion, ring or other chromosome disorder. The symptoms discussed in any article
may or may not apply to a particular individual. Furthermore, the information contained
on the CDO website, in our newsletter and in any electronic or regular mailing is
to be used for informational and educational purposes only.
We will occasionally publish on our website frequently submitted website questions
and answers in our new CDO FAQs section. Please refer to this section first - the
answer you are looking for may be found there. It is not a substitute for professional
medical care and advice. We urge you to always check with your own healthcare provider
with any questions or concerns. He or she is most familiar with your medical history
and unique situation. CDO's parent volunteers and medical advisors cannot know the
intricacies of your personal situation. CDO does not endorse or recommend any of
the resource links provided on this site. When you click on any of these resource
links you will be leaving the CDO website. These links are provided for additional
informational purposes only.
The board of Chromosome Deletion Outreach, Inc. (CDO) releases its members' names
and contact information only to other CDO families or as each family requests. CDO
utilizes password protection, a separate secure e-mail service for sensitive documents
as well as firewalls and duplicate virus protection. If you wish your information
to remain private and not released to others, please be assured your request will
be honored. We respectfully request that anyone visiting our website honor our strict
no solicitation policy. We feel very strongly that each member's privacy be protected.
All information contained on application forms is kept confidential.
